What Is a Guardian Home?

Guardian Homes are special families who receive one of our top-quality male or female puppies to raise and love as their own for life. In return, Southern Goldens retains the breeding rights for a set number of years, typically until age 4-5. You get to enjoy the joy of a Golden Retriever from puppyhood through adulthood, while partnering with us to continue our legacy of raising healthy, beautiful, and well-socialized Golden Retrievers.

What You Provide:

• A loving, stable, and safe home environment

• Basic training, exercise, and routine vet care

• Cooperation during scheduled breeding (1 week) and whelping times (6 weeks)

• Commitment to care for the dog long-term as your family pet

What We Provide:

• One of our best AKC-registered female puppies, 1st pick of the litter.

• Coverage of all breeding-related expenses and testing.

• If you choose to whelp and wean the puppies:

  • Supplies needed for the puppies and whelping process

  • Support and training on how to whelp and care for the puppies.

  • Financial incentives for your care of the puppies.

• Professional handling of all puppy sales and communication with buyers

How It Works:

• Southern Goldens retains breeding rights until retirement (around age 5)

• Breeding occurs no more than twice per year (1 week is typical for breeding)

• You may care for the dog during pregnancy, whelping, and weaning or we can take care of that whole process (6 weeks)

• Once her breeding career ends, we will cover the cost of spaying and full ownership transfers to you
